The Cambridge Road project entailed a comprehensive architectural conversion, beginning with a measured survey of the property. This large, disused, and redundant care facility in Birmingham comprised two attached Victorian terrace properties. The overarching goal was to convert the facility into seven flats, presenting a unique challenge due to the property's old-style Victorian terrace architecture. Our services included pre-application advice and development planning, focusing on maximising the building's value through a combination of studio to 3-bedroom units. The project required a strategic approach to redesigning the layout while aligning with planning recommendations to incorporate larger family units.
Challenges:
One notable challenge arose from the planning authorities expressing reluctance toward smaller flat units, advising a preference for several larger family units. This necessitated a redesign of the layout to meet the planning brief while ensuring optimal use of the available This project exemplifies our capability to navigate regulatory challenges and incorporate adaptive design solutions to meet both client objectives and planning requirements.
