Project Overview:
At SilverTeal we take pride in transforming historical industrial spaces into modern living environments that seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics. A testament to our expertise is our recent Heron Works project.
Challenges:
Minimising Block of Light:
The first challenge revolved around minimising the block of light for neighbouring properties, requiring a considered approach to address natural light obstruction while maintaining a delicate balance between privacy and illumination within the new flats. This involved an in-depth analysis of neighbouring properties to understand their orientation and light patterns, resulting in the precise placement of windows in the new units. The outcome was a thoughtfully designed living space that respects the surroundings, offering residents ample natural light without compromising the privacy of neighbouring properties.
Logistics and Traffic Management:
Logistics and traffic management proved to be critical considerations, especially given the project's location on a busy road. Efficiently addressing on and off-site travel and parking logistics required comprehensive traffic flow analysis and strategic planning to minimise disruptions. Coordination of transportation and delivery schedules, coupled with on-site parking solutions, ensured organised construction operations. Innovative solutions such as scheduling certain construction activities during off-peak traffic hours and implementing traffic control measures further contributed to the project's success. The outcome was a seamless construction process that minimised disruptions to the surrounding area, ensuring both safety and accessibility.
Project Highlights:
The Heron Works project stands as a testament to our commitment to innovation and adaptability. By repurposing a 1900s industrial factory into modern residences, we not only rejuvenated the space but also paid homage to the industrial heritage of the community. The utilisation of industrial construction aesthetics, including grey brickwork, pressed metal effect aluminium, and standing seam metal roof, reflects our dedication to preserving the site's historical significance while embracing contemporary living.
Outcome:
The successful transformation of Heron Works exemplifies our ability to navigate challenges, from strategic window placement to traffic management on a bustling road. The result is not just a collection of residences but a harmonious integration of history, architecture, and modern design.
